A word from the Instructor:Being a photographer has enriched my life in many ways. Photography has brought me creative satisfaction. It has allowed me to capture special moments in the lives of people close to me. It has allowed me to travel and to show others the world as I see it. This course will help you make photography an equally enriching part of your life.
You will receive eight one hour lessons covering everything you need to know in order to take great pictures. This includes information on the setting of your camera, the qualities of good photography composition and the basics of editing your images on the computer and how to share images by email.You will have the opportunities to take a series of photographs which allow you to apply the principles you have learned. Your instructor, Audley Smith, will analyze each picture explaining what is good, suggesting tips for improvement. Through these positive critiques, you will be amazed how quickly your pictures will begin to look professional.
Week One; Getting familiar with your camera – components guide, attach camera strap,install Battery, memory card, set date and time. (Hand-outs available).
Week Two; Camera functions – compose the shot using zoom, focus, taking picture, playback and delete (analyze and critique). Assignment.
Week Three; Review assignment.Control – focus, aperture, shutter speed, ISO speed. (Hand-outs available).Assignment.
Week Four; Review assignment.Portrait lighting techniques – studio lighting, hatchet, halo, butterfly, tunnel,Rembrandt. (Hand-outs available). Assignment.
Week Five; Review assignment.Transferring images to a computer for viewing. Analyze and critique.(Hand-outs available). Assignment.
Week Six; Review assignment.Editing for printing – Pro-show go, Windows Picture Manager, Photoshop.(Hand-outs available). Assignment.
Week Seven; Review assignment.Transferring images to thumb drive, CD, DVD. Share images, e-mail to friends,e-mail to printer. Printing images. Assignment.
Week Eight; Review assignment.Video on “Tips & Guidelines”.
